However, Mountain View did just what it needed to do -- regrouped with a big second half to grab control -- leading to a 42-36 victory for the junior Lady Yellowjackets.
The third period was the tuning point in this game. Calico Rock (9-1) led 22-18 at the half, but watched as Mountain View (12-0) ended the third period on a 10-0 run to take a 28-24 lead after three.
And that lead proved to be enough of a cushion.
The junior Lady Yellowjackets continued to add to their margin down the stretch in the fourth and take the tournament hardware with a 42-36 win.
The junior Lady Pirates started the game on the right foot, as Brooke McCurley (seven points) drained a big trey for the first points of the game for Calico Rock.
Then, Emily Johnson got on track.
She tossed in eight points in the last four-and-a-half minutes of the first to help Calico Rock to a 13-7 lead after one. Johnson paced the junior Lady Pirates with 13 points.
Mountain View took its first lead of the afternoon, 14-13, midway into the second period on a trey.
But Calico Rock's Sloan Lively (10 points) hit back-to-back jumpers to push the Lady Pirates back on top.
The teams went to intermission with Calico Rock in front 22-18.
Then came the third period.
Johnson sank a pair of free throws to start the frame for Calico Rock, but that was the last points the junior Lady Pirates saw in the third, with Mountain View closing the stanza with 10 unanswered points to move on top to stay.
