A call comes in and flames are engulfing a house or a wreck has occurred on Highway 9 north. Who are you going to depend on to always be there in those times of need where families can lose everything in a moment's notice or someone's life is on the line? The Camp Fire Department is there for all those in their area who are in need of emergency assistance.

Elections for new fire department heads were held Dec. 1 at the Camp Fire Department. Butch Bologna took the place of John Davis as fire chief. Richard Navarro was elected as assistant chief. David Cunningham is now the captain and Kelli Bologna became the new safety officer.

Davis, the former chief, has been with the Camp Fire Department for 14 years, according to a press release sent out by the department. Of those 14 years, he served two as the chief. "Along with fire chief duties, Davis was involved last March with the lifesaving water rescue of a Camp man after he became stranded in a high water crossing," states the press release. Bologna said Davis was important to the mission of saving the man's life.

Butch Bologna, the new fire chief, lived in Alaska for some time, then moved to Arkansas. He has served as an airport firefighter, a helicopter search and rescue aircrewman and a wild lands firefighter. Bologna has served with the Camp Fire Department for two years and is an EMS certified first responder and the lead training officer for the department.

"I look forward to serving the people of Camp and surrounding areas as fire chief," Butch Bologna said.

The new changes in the department will take place Jan. 1.
