MAMMOTH SPRING -- Mammoth Spring Mayor Jean Pace opened the Dec. 8 city council meeting by informing the council that John Selig, an engineer with NRS Consulting Engineers has been working with the city on planned maintenance to the city's water storage tank inside and out.
She said she would be applying for a grant for $158,000 from ULDA to do the work. While that tank is being worked on the old storage tank will have to be used. There is some work that will have to be done on the old storage tank before it is useable and the city will pay for that maintenance.
The council passed a resolution for the mayor to apply for a grant for a new four-wheel-drive vehicle for the police department. Pace said the grant will be from ULDA and the new vehicle will include a light bar and a Jot-A-Desk which she explained is what the officers can use to write on the vehicle.
Myrna Newton was appointed to the Tree Board by the council.
The council discussed three properties that were going to have to be condemned if the owners did not clean them up. Those properties are located on Walker Street, and two on Bethel Street.
The council voted to give a Christmas bonus to all city employees.
