Helen Marie Pauline Skelley was born March 5, 1927, in Cresaptown, Md., daughter of James Shepherd and Pansy Pearl Robison Shepherd and died Dec. 16, 2008, in West Plains, Mo., at the age of 81.
She was united in marriage March 5, 1946, in Cumberland, Md., to Harold Skelley who preceded her in death Nov. 5, 1987.
She was employed by Carr Lowry Glass Company in Baltimore, Md., as an assembly line worker, and after moving to the Ozarks, worked at the Puritan Garment Factory in Thayer. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
She is survived by: one son, David Skelley and wife, EmmaLea of Thayer, Mo.; one daughter, Linda Honeycutt and husband, David of Thayer; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Crawford and husband, Heath, John Skelley and wife, Delisa, Sara Huffman and husband, Dave, Bill Honeycutt and wife, Carrie, Steve Honeycutt and wife, Lisa, and Davie Honeycutt and Stacy Zook; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul E. Shepherd of Waxahachie, Texas; two sisters, Lucy Wagner of Cresaptown, Md., and Carol VanMeter of Cumberland, Md.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; one grandson, Michael David Skelley; and two brothers, Robert Shepherd and Junior Shepherd.
Funeral services were held Dec. 19, in Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Rev. Wayne Cloven officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Thayer with arrangements under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer., Mo.
