Henry Harvey McKee was born Feb. 13, 1916, and died Dec. 26, 2008, at the home of his daughter in Las Cruces, N.M. He was born in Jeff, Oregon County, Mo., to John H. and Gola Williams McKee.
He served his country in World War II in the Philippines as a member of the Army Signal Corp. He had worked for Arkansas-Missouri Power Company in Mammoth Spring, Ark., owned several gas stations in Las Cruces, N.M., drove a school bus in West Plains, Mo., Silver City, N.M. and Gila Bend, Ariz., and was also a barber.
He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge, Blue Lodge and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Alto Baptist Church, Alto, N.M.
He was survived by: his daughter Rosalie Spangler, of Las Cruces, N.M.; a sister and her husband Ruth and Don Powell of Mammoth Spring, Ark.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Dorothy McKee; brother, Gover McKee; his wife, Murl; two sons, Jon Harvey and Don A. McKee.
Funeral services were held Dec. 30 at Getz Funeral Home with Smoky Blanton, a long time friend, officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
