Mammoth Spring Fire Chief Kenny Haney is being recognized for exceptional community service this holiday season as part of the Michelin Driving America's Safety program.

According to Michelin representative Carolyn Hamamchain, individuals in the Mammoth Spring community nominated Chief Haney to receive a special gift, a full set of Michelin light truck tires for their emergency response vehicle to ensure the community's first responders are outfitted with the safest, most reliable tire.

Haney was nominated and chosen as one of 50 first responders nationwide to receive the award.

The tires will be received at Ozarko Tire Centers in West Plains.

The program started in 2006 and encourages community members to recognize local firefighters and EMS personnel by nominating them to receive a donation of a full set of new tires for emergency service vehicles.

As numerous fire departments and EMS squads across the country continue to face financial restraints and maintenance issues, Michelin's Driving America's Safety program enables citizens to play a role in ensuring a vehicle for their community's first responder department is outfitted with the safest and most reliable tires.

"The Mammoth Spring Fire Department was awarded the special gift because Hazel Wilcox, wife of firefighter Scott Wilcox submitted our department for the tires," Haney said.
