William A. "Bill" Van Dyk, 75, of Cherokee Village, Ark., died Dec. 27, 2008, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 3, 1933, in Grand Rapids, Mich., the son of Adrian Van Dyk and Mildred (Jones) Van Dyk.
He worked for many years for the railroad while living in Michigan. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He served during the Korean War as a paratrooper. He moved to Cherokee Village four years ago from California. He was a member of the VFW and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.
He is survived by: his wife, Patricia of the home; four sons, Christopher, William, Martin and Mark; one daughter, Milissa; one brother, Richard; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass was held at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Jan. 6 with Father Tom Marks officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to: St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cherokee Village.
