Veda Elizabeth (Upton) LaFevers of Chatsworth, Calif., a former resident of the Kansas City area, died Dec. 30, 2008. Veda was the daughter of the late Elmer and Myrtle Faulkenberry Upton of Viola, Ark. She was born Aug. 18, 1918, at Salem, Ark., and was married to Edmond J. LaFevers on May 1, 1937.
She was a member of the Country Club United Methodist Church, the K.C. Chapter of DAR, the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 97, the Presidents and Past Presidents Club, Friends of the Art, and the K.C. Women's Athletic Club. Veda was a cosmetologist and served as president of the K.C. Cosmetologists and was a member of the K.C. Coiffure Guild.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Edmond LaFevers.
She is survived by: a son, Larry LaFevers and his wife Gayle of Mesa, Ariz.; daughter, Linda Smith and her husband, Mike of Chatsworth, Calif.; two grandsons, Brett LaFevers and wife, Gina of Chandler, Ariz., and Cole LaFevers and wife Shelley of Mesa, Ariz.; two granddaughters, Shelly Smith-Jimenez of West Hills, Calif., and Amy Smith of Chatsworth, Calif.; two great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; two sisters, Lola Caldwell of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Norma Rosier of Nixa, Mo.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Jan. 9 at the Mt. Calm Church in Viola, Ark. Burial will follow in Mt. Calm Cemetery.
