Izard County Sheriff's Report

The Izard County Sheriff's Department conducted several sobriety checkpoints on the roadways during this past holiday season. Safe and sober drivers were given a "thanks for being safe and sober" key chain in cooperation with the Izard County Hometown Health Coalition's drug and alcohol program. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that others not meeting the safe and sober challenge, were arrested and taken to jail.

Jeffery Paul Hohn, 39, of Kemp, Texas, was arrested Jan. 2 at the roadside park on Highway 56 on multiple misdemeanor charges and one felony charge. Hohn was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine in addition to possession of an instrument of crime-two counts and operation of a vehicle without a license plate. District Judge David Miller set bond for Hohm at $10,000 and he remains in the Izard County Detention Facility.

Anthon Eugene Lawrence, 40, of Norfork was arrested New Year's Day on charges to include driving while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, driving left of center and not wearing a seat belt. Lawrence posted bond the following day in the amount of $2,050 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

In another New Year's Day arrest, Lorenda Gaye Arnold, 46, of Melbourne was arrested on charges to include driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a chemical test, careless driving and a seat belt violation. Arnold was released later that day from the Izard County Detention Facility after making provisions for a bond in the amount of $2,345.

A New Year's Eve traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Gary Lynn Henson, 54, of Melbourne on the charge of driving while intoxicated-second offense. Henson was released from the Izard County Detention Facility the following day after posting bond in the amount of $2,805. Henson was arrested the day before on the charge of public intoxication and was released earlier in the day with a driving while intoxicated charge. Henson posted a bond on the public intoxication charge in the amount of $205.

In another alcohol related arrest, John Ray Trivitt, 18, of Wiseman was charged New Year's Day for possession of intoxicating liquor by a minor. Trivitt posted bond the following day in the amount of $605 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Michael Joseph Kelly II, 19, of Franklin was arrested Jan. 2 on the charge of possessing an instrument of crime. Kelly posted bond the following day in the amount of $1,105 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

James Dean Rawson, 20, of Melbourne was arrested Dec. 28 on the charge of criminal mischief. The charge stems from Rawson breaking the window of his sister's apartment in Melbourne. Rawson remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $1,105 bond.

Sara Jane Loosey, 18, of Violet Hill was arrested Jan. 3 at a residence on county road 62 and charged with domestic battery third degree. Loosey remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of bond in the amount of $1,105.

Patrick Russell McNealy, 18, of Guion was arrested Dec. 26 on criminal trespass charges as the result of McNealy climbing the fence of a vehicle impound yard and entering a impounded vehicle. McNealy was given a court date and released.

Cody Ty McCann, 18, was transported Jan. 1 from a jail near Jacksonville, Fla., to answer Izard County charges of commercial burglary and theft of property. The charges stem from an earlier incident at Turkey Mountain Motors in Franklin involving the theft of a motor vehicle and other items. McCann remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $50,000 bond.

Paul Ray Goodson, 49, of Agnos was arrested Dec. 31 on a contempt of court warrant. Goodson remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $500 bond.

Billy Gene Ward, 30, of Guion was arrested Jan. 2 on a failure to appear warrant. Ward remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $2,210 bond.

In another failure to appear arrest, Benjamin Leroy Lewis, 18, of Melbourne was incarcerated Dec. 27 and released after posting bond in the amount of $1,460.

Kisha Dawn Green, 23, of Batesville was arrested Dec. 26 on a contempt of court warrant for failure to pay fines. Green later posted bond in the amount of $465 and was released.

Joshua D. Sanders, 30, of Wideman was arrested Dec. 31 on a warrant relating to failure to pay fines. Sanders posted bond the same day in the amount of $400 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Laura Ann Kalata, 28, of Mountain Home was arrested Dec. 22 on a child support enforcement warrant. Kalata remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $6,624 bond.

Three individuals were arrested in early January on out of county warrants. Joseph Trevor Curtis, 19, of Pineville was arrested Jan. 1 on a Baxter County warrant. Charles Daniel Boothe, 25, of Melbourne was arrested Jan. 2 on a Baxter County warrant while Ewell Dwight Neal, 30, of Viola was arrested Jan. 3 on a Franklin County warrant. The three were transferred to appropriate authorities.
