Alma Agnes Newberry, 90, of St. Louis, Mo., formerly of Salem, Ark., daughter of the late Herbert Howard and Dorothy Alena (Hall) Isom, was born April 12, 1918, in El Moro, Colo. She died Jan. 3, 2009, in St. Louis.
Alma was united in marriage to William Henry Newberry on Feb. 14, 1937, at Littleton, Colo. She was a homemaker and a member of the Salem Church of Christ.
She is survived by: a son, Wayne Newberry of Nampa, Idaho; three daughters, Stella Marie Kersen of Yacoit, Wash., Alma Louise Berthelson of St. Louis, Mo., and Beverly Irene Newberry of Highlands, Texas; two brothers, Melvin Broderius of Phoenix, Ariz., and Wesley Broderius of Golden, Colo.; two sisters, Cela Beth Sellman of Truth or Consequences, N.M., and Adalynn May Mitchell of Las Animas, Colo.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; one son, Marvin Richard Newberry; one granddaughter, Arlene Louise Kersen; and one brother, Glen Isom.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 8 at the Camp Methodist Church in Camp, Ark., with Rev. Steve Summers officiating. Interment followed in the Camp Cemetery at Camp, under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem.
Pallbearers were Michael Burris, Howard Burris, Wayne Newton, Tony Winters, Aaron Newberry and Jason DeLavergne.
