A 2 a.m. Sunday morning traffic stop on Arkansas Highway 5 North in Izard County resulted in multiple drug related charges against the vehicle driver. Larry Gene Stapleton, 32, of Calico Rock was charged with possessing drug paraphernalia, possessing a controlled substance, driving while intoxicated drugs and failure to pay registration. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said a syringe was found in the seat on the driver side of vehicle and Stapleton admitted there was meth in the needle and further admitted to using meth an hour before the traffic stop. Stapleton also tested postive for marijuana at the time of booking. He was released from the Izard County Detention Facility Sunday afternoon after posting bond in the amount of $3,350.
In other sheriff's department activities, Norman Rex Heyer, 53, of Melbourne was arrested Jan. 16 on failure to pay fines warrant stemming from an original charge of driving on a suspended drivers license. Heyer later posted bond in the amount of $810 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
Christina Elizabeth Ramsey, 27, of Batesville was arrested Saturday afternoon on failure to pay fines warrant. Ramsey remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of a $425 cash bond.
Donald Scott Cross, 39, of Desha was arrested Saturday night on a Stone County warrant. Cross later posted bond in the amount of $481 and was released.
