The 2009 Greater Ozarks Region Outdoor Adventures Sport Show is set for Feb. 13-15 in West Plains at the Civic Center.
The show will open Feb. 13 and run from noon until 7 p.m., then on Feb. 14, hours are 9 a.m. until 7 p.m., and on the last day, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The West Plains Chapter of Lions Clubs International has teamed up with the Ozark Radio Network to bring three days of kicking the winter-time blues for the benefit of the needy and especially those with vision needs.
During the Feb. 2008 show, nearly 5,000 attended the first-ever event despite two tornados in North Arkansas that week.
This year's show brings back the Popup 3D Archery Tournament, Sanctioned NWTF Turkey Calling Contest, National Guard climbing wall, Daisy air rifle shoot, Rams Cheerleaders, Miss Missouri, Outstanding Teen Miss Missouri, Boone and Crockett Judging, Monster Buck Exhibit and Celebrity Autograph Sessions.
New for this year is the Brad Guffey Motors Show Stage on the east side of the arena, where the Don Berry's Fishing Radio Show Trailer Stage will be the center of activities, along with seminars and entertainment.
Celebrities for this year include Jerry Martin of Bass Pro Shops TV, Halley Dunn world class skeet shooter and Next Generation TV, Phylis Spear co-host of Arkansas Outdoors TV, Nashville recording artist Kevin Weldon of Bad Bob and Jimmy fame, Mossy Oak TV pro staff members, and a possible visit from a Outdoor Channel Favorite.
The newest event this year will be the Bird Dog Bonanza sponsored by Native Dog Foods
Friday's activities include the Eighth Grade Extreme Competition from 1-3 p.m., sponsored by Glenn's Truck Service.
Practice sessions for the 3D shoot sponsored by Broken Bow Archery.
The Quail Forever banquet will open at 7 p.m., at the National Guard Armory. The Air Rifle shoot is sponsored by Hirsch Feed and Farm Supply and operated by the 4H Shooters Club.
Many of these activities continue on Saturday and include the Trail Cam Contest Exhibit sponsored by Richard Brothers Feed, The Regional Turkey Calling Championship sponsored by Wal-mart, Boone and Crockett Scoring sponsored by Great Rivers Distributing, Rams Cheerleaders sponsored by Sleep Mart, Louie the Springfield Cardinal sponsored by West Plains Savings and Loan, Outstanding Teen Miss Missouri sponsored by Lyndell Beard Attorney at Law and many other activities and events.
Also this year, the Missouri Department of Conservation is and are sponsored by McDonalds of West Plains, Thayer and Mountain View.
The big change for this year is four concerts.
The first is Kevin Weldon, the Redneck Hunter, who brings country music hits with a twist.
Bad Bob and Jimmy smash the hits with fun and will be joined by Foster's Outback Dance Team.
The two shows are Friday the 13th at 6 p.m. and Sunday the 15th at 2 p.m.
The Redneck Hunter Show is sponsored by Hometown Energy and tickets are available at any of their locations, West Plains Music, the Civic Center, Chamber of Commerce or ABC Furniture fort $5 per person.
Since the Outdoor Adventures Sport Show is on Valentines Day, The Lions Club wanted to do something special for the ladies and is bringing The Elvis Sweetheart Tour to the Civic Center. Sponsor West Plains Music is providing a first-class sound system to combine with the talent of Billy Wade of Houston Texas, a Vegas Class Entertainer and is The Ultimate Elvis and Exclusive "Legends Show" Performer. Once again tickets are only $5 show times are Feb. 14 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. and door prizes include a Weekend Getaway at Lost Cove Resort and a Weekend Getaway at Emory Creek Bed and Breakfast in Branson. Tickets are available at West Plains Music, the Chamber of Commerce office, the Civic Center and ABC Furniture.
Tickets to the Outdoor Adventures SportShow are $6 and all proceeds go to the Lions Club.
