Melbourne plasters Cotter

Maggie Caraway was hot from beyond the 3-point stripe Feb. 3, as she busted five triples to help the Melbourne Lady Bearkatz to a 71-41 rout of Cotter in 2-2A play at The Arena at Melbourne.

Caraway finished with 15 points for the Lady Katz (22-4, 8-1), ranked fifth in Class 2A hoops.

Kaylee Ables notched 14 points and grabbed nine boards, while Maggie Cooper finished with 11 points and seven assists. Sara Adams had nine points.

Amanda Treat and Kenzi Gillihan had seven points each for Melbourne.

Abbi Miller had six and Olivia Wetzel two points for the Lady Bearkatz.

On the boys' side of things, Melbourne (23-4) kept its conference mark perfect at 9-0 with a 66-56 victory over the Warriors.

The Katz opened the game on a 10-0 run and held a 21-10 advantage at intermission.

Spencer Caraway logged 19 points for the Bearkatz. Chase Massey (five assists) and Lee Lewis finished with 15 points each.

Dalton Grigg had 10 and Kody Caraway seven for Melbourne, ranked number two in the state in Class 2A.

In junior girls' play, Melbourne topped Cotter 44-29 behind Karli Gillihan's 10 points.
