Oliver Seat, 79, of Desha, Ark., died Jan. 30, 2009, at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born March 9, 1929, at Blytheville, Ark., and was raised in Nelsonville. He was the son of Samuel David and Amelia Ann Swarner Seat.
He was a machinist and worked for many years for Cessna, Boeing, Memorex and Aerojet. He was the owner of Strout Realty in Batesville until his retirement in 1979.
Survivors include: his wife, Jean Seat of the home; one son, Robert O. Seat of Desha; one brother, Kenneth Seat of Nelsonville; three sisters, Kathryn McCrackin of Pocahontas, Dorthy Mae Gray of Jonesboro and Betty Sue Mueller of San Lorenzo, Calif.; two grandchildren, Angela Sharrow of Rayeford, N.C., and Rob Seat of Cave City; two great-grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; and three brothers, James Seat, Ernest Seat and Homer Seat.
Funeral services were held Feb. 3 at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Pat Proctor officiating.
Burial followed in the Alderbrook Cemetery located at Desha with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville, Ark.
