Junior Lawrence Williams, 66, was born Sept. 7, 1942, at Alton Mo., the son of Gilbert David Williams and Lena Kiser Williams. He died Feb. 1, 2009, in West Plains, Mo.
He was united in marriage Oct. 12, 1963, at Thayer, Mo., to Wanda Walker.
He was a farmer, a mechanic and heavy equipment operator and helped construct the Ray Roberts Dam near Gainesville, Texas. He worked in the oil fields in Canadian, Texas, for several years. He worked in the timber industry in Alaska for several years working as a mechanic and also operated heavy equipment.
He was a member of Riverton Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Wanda Williams of the home in Alton; five children, Cindy Brown of Rover, Mo., Lawrence "Tom" Williams of Canton, Okla., Terry Williams of alton, Michael Williams of West Plains and Pamela Latham of Alton; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; eight brothers and sisters, Pauline, Augusta, James, Dale, Cindy, Jesse, Jewell and Connie; numerous nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; one infant son, John Jacob Williams; three brothers, Joseph, Jerry and Jennings; and two sisters, Sherrie and Eugena.
Funeral services were held Feb. 6 in the Riverton Baptist Church at Alton with Rev. David Case and Rev. Robert Wiggs officiating. Burial followed in the Cotton Creek Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Riverton Baptist Church or the Gideon International.
