"It's finally available and we're excited to be offering this new service to our readers," Erma Harris managing editor of Areawide Media said.

"Our new e-edition of The News will allow everyone with Internet service to connect to our Web site and read the entire newspaper online -- and it's available this week."

For those who are tired of waiting on the mail or are unsatisfied with their delivery of The News, Areawide Media is offering a new service to subscribers and readers -- an online e-edition of the newspaper.

Those who subscribe to the The News print edition will now be able, free of charge, to view the full newspaper online for the duration of their subscription.

The online edition available by 2 p.m., Thursday is accessable by visiting www.areawidenews.com/onlinereader. From there the reader will be redirected to a user friendly interface containing the e-edition.

From the interface, navigating through the paper can be done with a click of the mouse using a series of buttons located at the top of each page. These navigational buttons will allow you to print, increase the print size for easier reading, view the paper in a single page or double page spread, jump from page to page and even section to section and even print the story. There are also quick and advanced search bars to find specific information. By clicking on the headline or story, the article is opened in the adjoining window full sized for easier reading.

The e-edition will include the front page just as it is printed, enhanced with color photos, as well as all advertisements placed in the paper and the Marketplace section.

For print subscribers to begin their online subscription, they will be directed to enter the following information: either a phone number or e-mail address. This will enable the system to check for a print subscribion and allow access to the e-edition.

Although offered free to current print subscribers, non subscribers can purchase an online subscription for only $25, more than half the cost of a print subscription. Purchasing an e-edition subscription can be done online or by visiting any of the Areawide Media offices located in Salem, Highland and Thayer. To subscribe contact Areawide Media at 800-995-3209 or locally at 870-895-3209.
