Jerry Wayne Jones of Melbourne, Ark., son of the late Billy Jack Jones and Dorothy Hellums Jones of Melbourne, was born June 28, 1957, in Oklahoma City, Okla. He died Feb. 6, 2009, in Melbourne, at the age of 51.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean war. During his working years, Jerry was employed as an store inspector for Radio Shack. He also worked as a mechanic. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the South Side Baptist Church in Altus, Okla.
He is survived by: two sons, Scottie Wayne Jones of Phoenix, Ariz., and Brandon Cooper Jones of South Dakota; his mother, Dorothy Jones of Melbourne; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Kathy and Eldon Beck of VanBuren and Karen and Bill Lynch of Melbourne; three grandchildren, Sariena Jones, Zebedee Jones, and Krista Rose Jones; and a host of relatives; and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Jack Jones.
Funeral services were held Feb. 8 at the Howard Memorial Chapel with Steve Stevenson officiating. Burial followed at New Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
