Evelyn Lee Ramsey was born Dec. 23, 1929, at Wichita, Kan., the daughter of Edwin West and Clarssey Armina Garringer West. She died Feb. 7, 2009, in Springfield, Mo., at the age of 79.
She was united in marriage to Herman Gray. She was united in marriage March 17, 1990, at Fall River, Kan., to Donald Ramsey, who preceded her in death Sept. 18, 2004.
She was a registered nurse and employed by Chastains Nursing Home in Thayer for many years.
She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church and a member of the Thayer Garden Club where she served as treasurer.
She is survived by: three children, Robert Gray and fiancee, Crystal Angotti of Thayer, Mo., Cheri Quackenbush and husband, Alan of Republic, Mo., and Bebe Gray and husband, David Ingram of Mammoth Spring, Ark.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ray West of Stilwell, Okla. and Joe West of Stilwell; one sister, Judy Acorn of Stilwell; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Donald Ramsey; one son, David Gray; two brothers, Neal West and Sonny West; and one sister, Joy Frantz.
Graveside services were held Feb. 11 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Thayer, Mo., with James Lee Reed officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
