Maud Maxine Montgomery Hamlett, 90, of Ada, Okla., formerly of McHue, Ark., died Feb. 7, 2009. She was born March 5, 1918, at Sandtown, Ark., the daughter of William Ellsworth and Elizabeth Tugwell Montgomery.
She married Homer Hamlett on May 4, 1936. She was a retired school teacher from the Cave City School, having taught for 45 years. She was a member of the Jamestown Methodist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Ray Hamlett of Ada, Okla.; one daughter, Wilma Manuel of McHue; six grandchildren, Sean Hamlett of Joplin, Mo., Heather Tharp of Floral, Melissa Sullivan of Ada, Okla., Sandy McGehee of Hernando, Miss., Linda Tolleson of Flag Staff, Ariz., and Randy Manuel of McHue; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband of 50 years, Homer Hamlett; and one sister, Norine Hodge.
Funeral services were held Feb. 10 at Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with J.W. Roach and James Wheeler officiating. Burial followed in Lee's Chapel Cemetery located at Sandtown with arrangements by Quall Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Mordccai Marlin, Perry Horn, Tom Inman, James Inman, John McGehee and Eric McGehee.
