Herbert Orville Draper, 89, of Ash Flat, Ark., died Feb. 12, 2009, at his home. He was born in Wayne City, Ill., on Aug. 25, 1919, the son of Curtis O. and Carolyn Ruth (Powell) Draper.
He was married Nov. 16, 1962, to Vernita June Fenton in Mt. Vernon, Ill. He was a retired sawmill owner/operator.
He is survived by: eight children, Dava Austin and husband, Denny Austin of Wayne City, Ill., Rodey McCormick of Sims, Ill., Lisa Long and husband, Mark Long of Hardy, Ark., Lori Gentry and husband, Ray Gentry of Ash Flat, Russell Draper and wife, Rene' Draper of Cherokee Village, Ark., Robert Draper of Salem, Ark., Richard Draper and wife, Paula Draper of Jonesboro, Ark., Angla Doty and husband Todd Doty of Salem, Ark.; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Curtis O. and Carolyn Ruth Draper; one daughter, Deborah McCormick; one sister, Alberta (Hankins) Hall; one brother, Carroll C. Draper; and one great-grandchild, Jordan Rainey.
Funeral services were held Feb. 16 at the Olive Branch Church with burial following in the Olive Branch Cemetery in Wayne City, Ill. Local arrangements were under the direction of Tri-County Funeral Homes of Hardy, Ark.
