Crystal Geneva Baker was born Feb. 14, 1914, at Calm, Mo., the daughter of the late Curtis Johnson and Clara Miller Johnson. She died Feb. 2, 2009, at her home in Calm, Mo., at the age of 94.
She was united in marriage to Loyd Baker at Salem, Ark., on Aug. 3, 1938, who preceded her in death Oct. 27, 1984.
She was co-owner and operator of Baker Feed and Grocery at Calm, with her husband, Loyd.
She was a Christian and attended Liberty Free Will Baptist Church.
She is survived by: five children, Virginia Ann Gazaway of Springfield, Mo., Janice McDowell nd husband James of Gatewood, Mo., Harold Baker of Bowling Green, Ky., Carolyn Baker of Gatewood and Susan Baker of Gatewood; eight grandchildren, Rick Gazaway, Mihael Gazaway, Cindy Wolpert, Steve McDowell, Wesley Baker, Christie Stoner, Matt Baker and Andy Baker; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bonnie Gazaway of Gatewood; several nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Curtis and Clara Johnson; her husband, Loyd Baker; four brothers, Waymond, Roy, Hubert and Orbrey; one infant brother; and one sister, Nadine Hixon.
Funeral services were held Feb. 6 at the Liberty Free Will Baptist Church in Calm, Mo., with Rev. James Johnson officiating. Burial followed in the Liberty Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
