Jones inks with Dyersburg State

Thursday, February 26, 2009

Miranda Jones, a standout softball player for the Calico Rock High School Lady Pirates, signed a national letter-of-intent to play softball at the collegiate level for Dyersburg State Community College in Dyersburg, Tenn. Lady Eagles Softball Coach Randy Hulme traveled to Calico Rock on Feb. 16 to sign Jones.

"We are very excited that Miranda has decided to join the Lady Eagles," commented Coach Hulme. "Her strong arm, work ethic, and great attitude will be a great addition to our team."

Jones, the daughter of Terri and David Jones of Calico Rock, received All-District and All-Conference honors when she played for Plato High School in Missouri. At Calico Rock High School, Jones was named to the All-Region team in 2008 and has received awards for Outstanding Pitcher. Jones also plays for the Delta Outlaws, a United States Fastpitch Association traveling team based out of Wilson, Arkansas, and has competed at the USFA World Series.
