Clarence "Pat" Rose, 88, of Cave City, Ark., died Feb. 21, 2009, at the Cave City Nursing Home. He was born Dec. 6, 1920, at Mobley, Ark., to James Parkey and Sarah Tennessee (James) Rose.

He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II, a retired farmer and had worked for the Sharp County Road Department. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include: his wife, Kathryn Lewis Rose of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Beth Rose of Delta, Ohio, and  James and Teressa Rose of Cave City; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Darrell Gibbs of Batesville; three grandchildren, Shawn Rose of Strawberry, Dustin Rose of Brookland, Ark., and Dana Irwin of Holland, Ohio; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; four brothers, Charles Wesley Rose, Ernest Rose, J.P. Rose Jr. and Frank Rose; and five sisters, Dorthy Rose Huskey, Zora Rose Boyer, Wilma Rose Smith, Florence Rose Gardner and Una Rose Pinter.

Funeral services were held Feb. 23 at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Bro. Deshawn Pankey and Bro. Howard Brewer officiating.

Burial followed in the Mount View Cemetery located east of Cave City with arrangements under the direction of the Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

Pallbearers were Van D. Sawyer, George Carter, Butch Crafton, Roy Gene Felts, Doug Brinkley and James Alan Anderson.
