Joseph Anthony "Joe" Kocz, of Hardy, Ark., was born Aug. 31, 1939, in Buffalo, NY., the son of the late Stanley Kocz and Rose Ostro Kocz. He died Feb. 16, 2009, at his home at the age of 69.
He was united in marriage to Mary Zarajczyk Aug. 31, 1963, in Buffalo, NY. To this union, two sons were born.
He served his country in the United States Navy and in 1962, received an honorable discharge. He was employed as a machine operator for 30 years by GM/American Axle in Buffalo and was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary of the family home; his sons, Nicholas J. Kocz and wife, Alison of Blacksburg, Va., and Michael A. Kocz and wife, Tracey of Cortlandt Manor, NY.; grandchildren, Lauren, Stephen, Sebastian, Brandon and Eleanor; one brother, Eugene Kocz of Lancaster, NY.; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by: two sisters, Helen Kaczorowski and Harriet Kazinski; two brothers, Alexander and Stanley Kocz; and his father and mother.
There will be a Mass Feb. 27 at 9 a.m. at St. Michael's R.C. Church in Cherokee Village. Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem, is in charge of the arrangements.
