Sterlin Clifton Moore was born Oct. 25, 1918, at Bexar, Ark., the son of Otis and Grace Birdsong Moore. He died Feb. 18, 2009.
He married Virginia Emery on April 4, 1942 and they shared 62 years as husband and wife. Virginia died May 25, 2004.
Sterlin served actively with varied assignments in the U.S. Army for 23 years. He achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He also had 25 years in public education as teacher and administrator. His achievements included honor societies and an academic doctorate. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of San Marcos for many years.
He is survived by: three daughters, Dianne Hart of San Antonio, Texas, Mary Windle of Village of Golf, Fla., and Judy Simon of Los Angeles, Calif.; six grandchildren, Valerie Hart of San Antonio, Bryan Hart of San Antonio, Rory Hermelee of New York, Ginger Riddle of Boerne, Texas, Marie Cusick of Los Angeles, Calif., Jill Bennett of Boerne, Texas; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held with interment in San Marcos Cemetery with arrangements under direction of Thomason Funeral Home at a future date.
