Mammoth Spring man arrested for third degree domestic battery

Thursday, March 5, 2009

MAMMOTH SPRING -- A Mammoth Spring man, Billy Greene, 26, has been charged with disorderly conduct, third degree battery and public intoxication.

A statement from Mammoth Spring Police Officer Jamie Turnbough said he received a call from the Fulton County Sheriff's Office Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. that a man at 180 River Bend Road had called them saying he had killed Anthony Smith.

Turnbough said when he arrived at the residence, Greene was laying in the road screaming. The officer handcuffed him and preceeded to check on Smith. At first Smith was unresponsive but later started to respond.

Smith was taken by Fulton County Ambulance to the Fulton County Hospital where he was treated and released. Greene was taken to the Fulton County Jail at Salem.

Turnbough and Mammoth Spring Police Chief Michael Davis looked around the scene and collected statements from neighbors.

Greene posted a $1,130 bond and was released from jail Feb. 28.
