The Thayer Lady Bobcats celebrated senior night Feb. 24 by taking the home floor to finalize the regular 2009 season.
And what a celebration it was.
Micah Stevens exploded for 42 points and Thayer routed the Lutie Lady Indians 91-42.
With only moderate backcourt pressure, the Lady Cats, ranked seventh in Class 2, relied on offensive rebounding and break-away layups to streak in for a bunch of points early.
The very-young Lutie team had no chance to stop the onslaught of treys and uncontested points from the red-hot Stevens.
With her typical hustling fashion, Samantha Oaks picked up a couple of fouls with 3:06 to go in the first and had to take a seat.
At the end of one, the Lady Bobcats were in front 29-6, thanks to 13 first-period points from Stevens.
Things stayed the same in the second period and the junior varsity squad took the floor for Thayer with three minutes remaining in the frame.
Thayer held a 62-16 lead at intermission and never looked back, rolling to a 91-32 victory.
Lacey Hawkins finished with 13 points for the Lady Bobcats, while Kristen Earls added 12. Kaley Hebert notched nine points, Sara Riley had six and Lauren Hargus four for Thayer.
