A Friday afternoon disturbance in the Sage community led to the arrest of the victim's daughter. Deputy Phil Story responded to the residence of Rose McAfee in reference to her daughter demanding money and being physically abusive to her mother. Arrested and charged with domestic batter third degree was Shawnee McAfee, 33, of Sage. McAfee admitted to using cocaine and also tested positive for opiates and meth. McAfee remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of a $1,105 bond.
In other sheriff's department activities, Feb. 25, Michael Gene Johnson, 39, of Melbourne, appeared at the Izard County Sheriff's Office and while waiting to talk with the sheriff was arrested on public intoxication charges. Johnson was released the following day from the Izard County Detention Facility after posting bond in the amount of $205.
Following a Thursday disturbance in the area of Lunen and Dixon Streets in Melbourne, Richard Crouch, 38, was arrested on a Marion County warrant and Charles Daniel Boothe, 25, was arrested on a Baxter County warrant. Both were transported from the Izard County Detention Facility to the appropriate county to face charges.
Joel Matthew Taylor, 23, of Jonesboro, was arrested Feb. 25 on an Izard County warrant for failure to appear. Taylor later posted bond in the amount of $1,695 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
Kenneth Smith, of Melbourne, who is wanted on felony criminal contempt of court charges is suspected of being on the run or in hiding to avoid arrest. Smith was originally arrested on felony drug charges, posted bond and violated the terms of his bond by testing positive for illegal drugs. Smith is suspected of being out of the 16th Judicial District, which is another violation of his bond. Anyone having knowledge of his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Izard County Sheriff's Department. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that charges are being reviewed to include aiding and abiding and possibly hindering apprehension against others involved in assisting Smith.
