John Thomas Clark was born Aug. 18, 1922, in Alton, Mo., the son of the late Thomas Lee Clark and Laura Mae Duncan Clark. He died Feb. 26, 2009, in Little Rock, Ark., at the age of 86.
He was united in marriage Oct. 9, 1943, in Alton, Mo., to Clestyl Fraley, who preceded him in death May 8, 2008.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving his country during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the DAV Chapter 43 in West Plains, Mo. He was a charter member of the Clifton Free Will Baptist Church, serving as Deacon since 1951.
He was a farmer and mill worker.
He is survived by: one daughter, Connie Hedden and husband, Kenny of Thayer, Mo.; one son, Don Clark and wife, Linda of Jacksonville, Ark.; three grandchildren, Allen Hedden and wife, Heather of Mountain View, Mo., Misty Granade and husband, Steven of Huntsville, Ala., and Susan Vanderpool and husband, Tim of Mammoth Spring, Ark.; six great-grandchildren; one brother, George Clark and wife, Violet of Norton, Kan.; two sisters, Hazel Grooms and husband Harding, of Alton, Mo., and Ethel Hummel of St. Louis, Mo.; four half-sisters, Ann, Kay, Mary and Louise; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Lee and Laura Clark; his wife, Clestyl Clark; two brothers, Bill Clark and Ongle Clark; one infant sister; and his half brothers.
Funeral services were held March 2 in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Mo., with Rev. Greg Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Thayer Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
