The Couch Indians' season came to a close with a 45-17 loss to the Thayer Bobcats in the semi-final round of the Class 2 District 2 Tournament at Summersville High School March 5.
Couch just could not get any kind of offense flowing against the Bobcats' pressure defense and the Indians fell behind 13-3 after the first period of play.
Thayer extended its lead to 29-5 at the half and 40-9 after three periods of play.
Eddie Meier scored six points for Couch, while Zain Hopper and Cody Roberts finished with four points each. Blake Martin logged three points for the Indians.
Lance Schneider tallied a game-high 17 points to pace Thayer, with Justin Shipp adding 16. Jacob Eckman ended the game with five, Luke Martin had four, Ryan Veatch posted two and Kevin Sandridge one.
In opening-round action March 2, Couch slipped past the host team from Summersville 60-59.
The Indians held a big 14-6 advantage after the first period, but the Wildcats narrowed the gap to 30-25 at the half.
Summersville then climbed on top 44-42 heading into the final period.
But in that final period, Couch outscored Summersville 18-15 to edge out the victory.
Roberts tossed in 22 points to led the Indians, while Meier and Blake Martin had 10 points each. Josh Carter added five, while Brad Hopper and Derrick Martin posted four points apiece. Zain Hopper scored three and Derek Orchard two points for Couch.
