Earl D. "Buddy" Rogers has announced he is a candidate for the office of mayor of Thayer in the April 7 municipal election.
Rogers and his wife, Mary, have live in Thayer and have run a successful business for 32 years. The Rogers' son, Earl, his wife Lisa and granddaughter, Keeley, also reside in Thayer.
Rogers has served as Alderman of Ward 1 on the north side of the city for 28 years.
"I have always enjoyed serving the citizens of Thayer," Rogers said. "I want to work for the betterment of this city. The city of Thayer is the citizens and it is your city, as well as mine. For that reason alone, we all need to do our part to help move our city forward.
"City employees are important and we must use their knowledge and expertise in their field to be able to get the job done.
"I will work with the board of aldermen to see every dollar that is put into city funds is spent wisely and priority needs will be addressed first.
"The qualities of a good mayor are to be able to listen, to serve the citizens and address their problems with the best workable solution, as well as manage their money wisely and make it work in the best interest of all the people."
