Sammie "Sam" William Cantrell was born Sept. 15, 1954, at Princeton, Mo., the son of Virgil Cantrell and Bernice Wisehart Cantrell. He died March 15, 2009, at his home in Mammoth Spring Ark., at the age of 54.
He was a construction worker and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, proudly serving his country from 1973 until 1985.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by: one son, Jeremy Cantrell of Florida; one daughter, Jennifer Higgins of Tennessee; one grandson, Brandon Higgins of Tennessee; two sisters, Paula Miller and husband, Bob of Koshkonong, Mo., and Stacey Cowen and husband, Randy of Koshkonong; one sister-in-law, Wilma Cantrell of Okeechobee, Fla.; special friend, Carol Wooden of Mammoth Spring, Ark.; several nieces; nephews; aunts; uncles; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Virgil and Bernice Cantrell and two brothers, Ricky and Leo Cantrell.
Graveside services were held March 19, at the Myrtle Cemetery at Myrtle, Mo., with Bro. Richard Robinson officiating. Burial followed in the Myrtle Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
