Royce Jean Kyzer Hayes, daughter of the late Sherman Fletcher Kyzer and Betty Lou Watts Kyzer, was born Sept. 14, 1955, in Rosedale, Miss. She died March 21, 2009, in Oxford, Ark., at the age of 53.
She was united in marriage to Dale Hayes in Greenville, Miss., in June 1972.
She was active in the Brockwell Head Start Program. She was a member of the Salvation Army.
Jean is survived by: three sons, Danny Hayes of Little Rock, Thomas Hayes of Oxford and Christopher Hayes of Oxford; one daughter, Elisabeth Hayes of Oxford; one brother: Bruce Thornton of Van Buren, Ark.; three sisters: Beatrice Boalt of Charlotte, N.C., Pat Long of Melbourne and Bertha Thornton of Camp; three grandchildren, Jordan Layne and Brandon Layne of Camp; one cousin: Chip Meddleton; good friends and neighbors, Mike and Gaile Denny of Oxford; and a host of other relatives and many good friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
Graveside funeral services were held March 23 at the Oxford Cemetery with Major Richard Watts officiating. Burial followed with arrangements under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Pallbearers were Logan Crider, Nathan Johnson, Josh Strauser, Pete Simmons, Thomas Hayes and Chris Hayes.
Honorary pallbearer was Jacob Denny.
