Karen LaRue Bennett was born Aug. 27, 1962, in Thayer, Mo., the daughter of James Lee Reed and Rosalee Combs Reed. She died March 14, 2009, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., at the age of 46.
She was united in marriage Nov. 27, 1982, in Garfield, Mo., to Dean Bennett.
She was a graduate of Couch High School and Arkansas State University, earning a degree in business administration. She was currently employed with the South Central Missouri Community Action Agency as area coordinator.
She was an active member of Cotton Creek Free Will Baptist Church.
She is survived by: her husband, Dean of the home in Myrtle, Mo.; one son, Derrick James Bennett and wife, Tricia of Myrtle; her parents, James Lee and Rosalee Reed of Myrtle; one brother, Jarvis Reed and wife, Kelly of Conroe, Texas; paternal grandfather, George Reed of Myrtle; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her paternal grandmother, Fay Reed; maternal grandparents, Davie and Claudia Combs; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rufford and Bessie Lorine Bennett.
Funeral services were held March 17 in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer. Burial followed in the Walnut Grove Cemetery near Myrtle with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
