Too Far Gone To Save

Thursday, April 2, 2009

A barn that was storing hay and farming equipment on the Hardin residence on Highway 9 south caught fire March 27. Dispatch received the call around noon. The Salem Fire Department arrived on scene to try to contain it. However, as one firefighter commented, there was not enough water in the county to extinguish the flames. Firefighters decided to let the fire burn itself out as they kept a close eye on it to make sure it didn't get out of control. No one was injured in the fire, but the building and everything in it was destroyed. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.Photo by Emily McIntosh
