Zebras can't catch Cougs

The Izard County Cougars took two games from the visiting Black Rock Zebras April 1 at the Cougar Sports Complex in Brockwell.

The Cougs opened the conference double-header sweep with an 11-4 rout in game one.

Then in game two, Izard County blasted Black Rock 15-6.

In game one, Jed Yarnell had a hit and three RBIs for the Cougars, while Jan Volny and Ethan Porter had two runs-batted-in each.

Jake Dockins went two-for-three with an RBI.

Porter earned the win on the hill, working five innings and striking out nine in the victory.

In game two, Jordan Everett had two hits and three ribbies for Izard County, while Jimmy Acup added a hit and three RBIs. Yarnell racked up a hit and two RBIs, while Dockins batted in two runs.

Everett picked up the game-two win on the mound, giving up just five hits while fanning seven Zebras in five innings.
