Mary White, 81, of Salem, Ark., formerly of Gurdon, died March 7, 2009, at the hospital in Salem. She was born Jan. 10, 1928, in Gurdon to Lee Roy and Mary McGougan Mauldin. She lived most of her life in Gurdon, before moving to Salem to be closer to her family.
She was a homemaker for almost 30 years and after the death of her husband, she re-entered the workplace; retiring from Ouachita Baptist University and ending her working career at the Salem Library and Senior Adult Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gurdon for 56 years and after moving to Salem, she joined the Immanuel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Willie Marion White; one sister, Lorene, and two brothers, Lee Roy Mauldin Jr., and Carl Mauldin.
She is survived by: one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Jerry Lindblom, of Salem; one son and daughter-in-law, David White and Teri Harper, of Dallas; three grandchildren, Seth Lindblom, Nicki White, and Adam White; one sister, Estelle Parsons; and sister-in-law, Virginia Mauldin; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held March 10, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Gurdon with Brother James R. Raines officiating. Interment followed in Rosehedge Cemetery in Gurdon, Ark.
