Pete Reilly
Former Sharp County OEM Coordinator Peter (Pete) Reilly Jr., 64, of Hardy was arrested March 30 on charges of rape and sexual indecency with a child.

According to the affidavit for arrest, on March 11 Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division (CACD) received a report of child abuse. The victim, 13, reported to investigators that she was sexually assaulted by Reilly when she was 10 or 11 years old, on two separate occasions.

The victim said she had been to Reilly's home on multiple occasions and had lived there when she was an infant. According to the report, she indicated that she trusted Reilly and that he was like a father figure to her.

Around the time she was 10 years old the victim said she had a nightmare while staying the night and sleeping in a guest bedroom at Reilly's home. According to the report, Reilly told the victim she could sleep with him.

While in bed with Reilly, the victim said he began rubbing her back then he touched her breast, vagina and butt, with his hands under her clothing. According to the report, the victim escaped by going to the bathroom, but she returned to the bed and slept as far from him as she could.

The same victim, according to the report, stayed the night at Reilly's home again. She tried to sleep in the same bed as Reilly, but again, he began touching her.

According to the report, she said Reilly touched her breast and attempted other sexual acts.

The victim said approximately a year ago Reilly tried to talk to her. According to the report, Reilly asked her if she had ever told anyone about what he had done to her, saying he was glad she hadn't because he could be in a "heap of trouble" if she said anything.

The affidavit stated that on March 18, two more female victims were interviewed. Victim 2 is 14 years old and Victim 3 is 18.

Victim 2 said on Nov. 10, 2008 Reilly touched her breast. She said, according to the report, that she was in Reilly's bed when he rolled over and placed his hand on her breast, but was not rubbing or moving his hand.

She said that when she was 13 years old Reilly talked with her about sex. According to the report, Reilly showed her how to masturbate, she watched as he masturbated himself in front of her. He also talked to her about foreplay and how to masturbate herself. Reilly then told victim 2 how to use a condom and how to use the pull out method.

Victim 3, 18 now, said she was 9 years old when Reilly sexually assaulted her. According to the report, she said she was a close friend of the Reilly family and of Reilly's step-daughter.

She said she and Reilly's step-daughter were laying in Reilly's bed watching television when Reilly came in and told his step-daughter to go take a bath. According to the report, after Reilly's step-daughter left the room he began to rub her in a sexual way.

Victim 3, according to the report, said she told her mother about the incident about a year ago. She said she then confronted Reilly about what he did to her but he would not talk about it.

The final victim was interviewed by CACD Investigator Stan Rogers on March 26. Victim 4 is 14 years old and said she was sexually assaulted by Reilly beginning when she was 11 years old.

According to the report, she said the incidents occurred at the Reilly home, while she was there as a guest. Victim 4 said she was in Reilly's bed at least five different times when he would snuggle up to her. Reilly would then start touching and rubbing her breast and butt through her clothing.

According to the report, she said he would put his hands under her shirt and shorts to rub her butt, but she had panties and a bra on and he didn't not touch her breast directly.

Reilly was arrested March 30, and his bond was set at $25,000. He bonded out and is expected to be present for his first court appearance in April.

Reilly resigned as the OEM Coordinator for Sharp County a year ago, according to Sharp County Judge Larry Brown. Brown said Reilly was still acting as the Fire Service

Coordinator at no salary and the county was paying his health insurance.

"I have talked to Mr. Reilly since (his arrest) and suspended him until this matter is resolved," Brown said. "He turned over all of the equipment to Gene Moore (current OEM) and Gene will be filling this position until we decide what we're going to do."

This is very wrong of him, but the question I have is why did these girls keep getting in his bed.

How inept. How could one possible blame any child for being victimized? Have you ever heard of psychological coercion?

This is a very graphic and detailed article. Its a shame that the Villager Journal doesn't investigate the CV City Hall with such intense and in-depth articles. Visit the CV Internet Forum at www.village2ya.com

The CV internet forum? That's pretty funny. You want to know what it is. It's maybe, if they're lucky, maybe 8 to 10 bored, disgruntled village property owners who do nothing more than rant back and forth about national politics like old men at a morning coffee shop, and then also constantly try to find something to complain about in regards to the village city hall. here's a thought. nobody cares about your worthless forum because the main focus of that forum always seems to be an avenue for you and your bored friends to constantly bash the village. it's a laughing stock so it does make for some good reading when you feel like reading something to make you laugh. nobody cares.

I have to agree with zencalm, who is their right mind would blame the child for a grown mans actions. What a joke to compare it to something like CV City Hall. That is like comparing apples to oranges and to use this forum to even bring it up is showing just how much stupidity some people have.

I agree with raisen. The self-centeredness of someone to try and advertise a forum on the back of such a bad event is uncalled for and disgusting. How that same person can take out their frustration with a city hall and relate it to this black eye on our community is beyond compare. Good grief man, what are you smoking?

i personally think a lot of the Reilly family and if these accusations are true then justice should be done but i do not agree that this family's business should be aired all over town!!! i mean this man is a father and grandfather and a well respected man!! how would you fill if it was your family i wouldn't want my families business aired all over town until it has been proven because people do lie expecilly young girls.

Really? So crimes against children should only be reported in metropolitan areas?

-- Posted by zencalm on Tue, Apr 14, 2009, at 9:23 AM

Sherry, what do you mean when you say "i mean this man is a father and grandfather and a well respected man!!" ? How well respected he is or was means absolutely nothing now. Being a father or a grandfather means even less. Do you honestly believe that the police and the prosecuting attorneys don't know what they're doing and have this all wrong? You're right. It could be one big misunderstanding, but it certainly doesn't look like it in the eyes of the police, does it? They seems to think he did it, and it looks as though they have gathered a good deal of information to come to that conclusion.

You also say you believe him more than the girls? Also, what does "expecilly" mean? Is that some code word for "I like to protect and coddle bad people as long as they are well respected in my town" ?

I truly feel sorry for you. You have no common sense.

I am astonished, that this article that is distributed to our schools, is so graphic for our children to be reading. This paper that I thought was great for the school reading program , to get kids to read, would put such detail in a story, knowing that our kids would be reading this, and that the school system as well would allow our young children to read such sexual material!!! This is wrong!! Whether the story is true or false, I believe that it could of been written more professionally, we as parents try to protect our kids, and between the paper and the school system, they make it very hard to do this. Even in bigger cities, reports of this nature have not been so detail about children and rape victims, as the paper did on this story...And we are suppose to be a church bound community????

I am really concerned that this paper that hands out free papers to our school system, for the reading program, to get kids to read. And knowing this would print such sexual details, from the report about the girls. This story could of been done more professionally, I believe!!! We try to protect children from such things, and as we a bound church community, would step to these standards just to cover a story. Whether the story is true or false, the man has been prosecuted before trial. Even in the bigger cities where I am from, the paper does not give out such graphic details about a rape or sexual molested child. More information was given out than should have. I feel for the family of both parties involved. We need to pray and not gossip about the story or the people involved....

Way too much and too many details about the "alledged" incidents. This is very unprofessional journalism.

-- Posted by Sean1965 on Sat, Apr 18, 2009, at 8:51 AM

Agreeing here as well...WAY too many details! When did newspapers stop using the term "private parts" or at the very least just say "g*nitals and other areas of the body" and start referring to them in graphic detail? DISGUSTING! And on the newspaper in the schools...some of these victims are also school children! I'm sure it's hard enough to read about themselves in the paper without having to relive every detail in print and keep a neutral face in front of their peers, not to mention the perves that are already convicted of crimes and registered in our area who are liking the excessive details. Please VJ, use some discretion next time. :-(

This goes to show that you really never know anyone.

Fathers and grandfathers can also be child molesters. Not all young girls lie.
