Player rosters are complete for the fourth annual Grizzly All-Star Classic, set for April 11 at the West Plains Civic Center.
Yancey Walker, head coach of the Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzly basketball team, said the invitations to those selected to participate in the games were mailed to area coaches during the past few weeks, and he said several selected All-stars have already accepted their invitation to participate in this prestigious event.
Hosted by the Grizzly basketball program, the event will feature the top 24 senior boys and the top 23 senior girls from varsity high school teams in south-central Missouri and north-central Arkansas, as chosen by a panel of coaches.
Senior boys competing include: Mike Wiese, Branson; Josh Carter, Zain Hopper, Blake Morris and Cody Roberts, all of Couch; Austin Brewer, Nathan Nichols and Jay Williams, all of Eminence; Nathane and Teddy Simniok, both of Forsythe; Kevin Gidney, Hartville; Wayne Cahoj and Shane Tullos, both of Koshkonong; Travis Cook, Jamal Petty and John Roberts, all of Lesterville; Jame Chambers and Paris Walkup, both of Mountain View-Birch Tree Liberty; Shane Smith, Salem, Ark.; Billy Cross and Jacob McVicker, both of Summersville; Lance Schnieder, Thayer; and Jimmy Huff and Justin Kraft, both of West Plains.
Senior girls competing include Jessica Bailey, Alton; Brook Lair, Bakersfield; Haley Skidmore, Conway; Tara Combs, Jessica Jones and Lorra Wicker, all of Couch; Jaime Shipley, Dora; Lauren Fitzpatrick, Fordland; Krystal Cain, Whitney Garrison and Tyne Rose, all of Gainesville; Holly Thomas and Kendra Welch, both of Houston; Brieayne (Breezy) Bailey, Koshkonong; Callie Carrol, Logan-Rogersville; Ellisha Coday, Seymour; Lindsey Erickson and Jessica Pickett, both of Springfield Kickapoo; Kristen Earls, Thayer; Jesse House, Sara Paschall and Alisha Shipley, all of West Plains; and Lindsey James, Willow Springs.
Players will arrive the morning of the all-star games to practice with the high school coaches selected to coach them during the competition. The girls' all-star game will get underway at 4:30 p.m., and the boys will play at 7 p.m. Three-point and slam dunk contests will be held at 6 p.m.
"We are excited to have the all-star games again this year," Walker said. "It is a great experience for the participants, and with the 3-point and slam dunk contests, it is a great event to watch as a fan."
There will be no advance ticket sales; all tickets will be sold the day of the games, Walker said.
