Bakery granted license

Thursday, April 9, 2009

THAYER -- A new business, Steve's Old School Bakery and Catering, was granted a business license at a called Thayer City Council meeting March 31. The business is on Sixth Street in the old Thayer Elementary School cafeteria.

All council members were present at the meeting and voted in favor of granting Steve Hickinbotham, owner of the new business the license.

The business will feature a bakery and catering service. "It will be something like a coffee shop with a few tables. In the future I might expand the sitting area of the business," Hickinbotham said.

The bakery opened April 1.

The building seats 100 people.

Ron Combs owns the building and says he has plans for the future of the building, possibly putting some apartments in a portion of the old school.

Head Start and the Oregon County Food Pantry are already in the building.
