Maxine Evelyn Carpenter, 84, of Ash Flat, Ark., died April 9, 2009, at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. She was born Jan. 16, 1925, at Lansing, Mich., to the daughter of Floyd and Marion Norma Bennett Waters. She was a retired assistant vice president for First National Banking Company in Ash Flat and a member of the Ash Flat Church of Christ.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Lori Carpenter of Ash Flat; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kaye and Max Safley of California, Mo., and Louann and Morris Street of Cherokee Village; three brothers and sister-in-law, Floyd Waters Jr. of Indianapolis, Ind., William and Marilyn Waters of Perry, Mich. and Edward and Shelby Waters of Eagle, Mich.; one sister, Mildred Chepy of Lansing, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held April 11 at 2 p.m. at the Ash Flat Church of Christ with Max Safley officiating. Burial followed in the Wiles Cemetery located in Ash Flat with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City, Ark.
Pallbearers were Robert Safley, Jon Safley, David Street, Mart Carpenter, Douglas Bays and Aaron Kamps.
