The Fountain Place board has announced that it will proceed with this year's golf tournament.
Since long-time patron Tommy Bolt passed away last year, the board decided to continue a fund-raising golf tournament, named "Fountain Place Celebration Classic."
The decision was on hold for some time until it was determined that a possible sale of Fountain Place would not take place.
The traditionaly scheduled June event has therefore been delayed until July 25.
As usual, the tournament will be held at the championship South Course in Cherokee Village.
Over the past six years, the Fountain Place Classic has grown in stature, thereby providing a unique opportunity to participate in an increasingly popular sporting event.
2008 proved to be one of the best tournaments yet, fielding a full compliment of teams, and again netting over $10,000 for Fountain Place.
Teams from many different communities in northeast and central Arkansas participated, as well as foursomes from several additional states, attesting to interest in the event.
As originally intended, the "Classic" has become recognized as one of the first-class golf tournaments in the area.
For additional information about the tournament, or about residences presently available for rent, the public is invited to visit the Fountain Place Website at www.FountainPlace.us.
