The Izard County Cougars climbed out of a big hole to knock off the Viola Longhorns 13-11 April 6.
The Cougars trailed 6-1 after three innings of play, but Izard County reeled off seven runs in the fourth inning to keep hope alive.
The contest was locked at 11-all after six innings, setting up a dramatic finish.
Jake Dockins led off the seventh inning with a walk and then moved to second on a fielder's choice.
With two outs in the frame, Preston Harmon came up large with a hit that plated Dockins.
Then, Ethan Porter tacked on another run with a hit that scored Alex Gale, wrapping up the Cougars' 13-11 victory.
Harmon had four hits and four RBIs for Izard County. Porter and Jed Yarnell had a hit and an RBI apiece, while Jordan Everett and Jake Dockins each hit safely. Jimmy Acup had a hit and two ribbies, while Jan Volny drove in a run.
Matt Prinner posted three hits and an RBI for the Longhorns. Dolan Johnston added three hits and two ribbies.
Tyler Ochoa and Zane Kunz both had hits, Jacob Payne drove in a pair of runs, while Cotter, Jesse Shrable and Jacob Luther had an RBI each.
Harmon started on the mound for Izard County and threw 4 1/3 innings, giving up 10 hits with four strikeouts and two walks. Ethan Porter then pitched 2 2/3 shutout innings to get the win. He fanned four and walked two.
