Deadline approaches for property assessment

Fulton County Assessor Brad Schaufler reminds everyone they may assess personal property for 2009 between Jan. 2 and May 31. After May 31, a 10 percent penalty will be added. When adding vehicles to personal property assessments, the vehicle identification number (VIN) is required.

Business assessments can not be completed by phone. Business forms are mailed out in January and must be returned or postmarked by May 31. Any new business will need to notify the assessor's office to receive their commercial personal property business form to be completed and returned by May 31. Vehicles on the business assessment may be updated by phone in order for them to be streamlined to the Revenue department. Provide all VIN numbers.

Property can be assessed in person at the Fulton County Assessor's Office in the Fulton County Courthouse in Salem between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (Monday through Friday); or Tuesdays at Mammoth Spring City Hall between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. (noon -- 1 closed for lunch) through May 31; or by phone at 870-895-3592 or 870-895-5557.
