Thursday, April 16, 2009

Some of the area's most dynamic high school basketball players capped their senior season by playing in the fourth annual Grizzly All-Star Classic April 11 at the West Plains Civic Center.

In the girls' All-Star game, the Dark team knocked off the light team 78-69.

Couch Head Coach Cecil Meyer directed the victorious Dark team, while West Plains' Scott Womack was head coach of the Light team.

Alton's Jessica Bailey, Koshkonong's Breezy Bailey and Thayer's Kristen Earls were members of the Light team.

Dark team members included Couch's Tara Combs, Lorra Wicker and Jessica Jones.

MVP honors in the girls' game went to Seymour's Ellisha Coday.

In boys' action, the Dark team won 114-108, in a high-scoring affair.

Identical twins Teddy and Nate Simniok from Riverview Bible Baptist High School were named as co-MVPs of the boys' All-Star game.

Couch's Zain Hopper, Cody Roberts, Blake Martin and Josh Carter, along with Koshkonong's Shane Tullos and Wayne Cahoj, and Thayer's Lance Schneider, were part of the Light team.

Shane Smith, from Salem, suited up for the Dark team.
