The Thayer Bobcats and visiting Mammoth Spring Bears squared off on the baseball diamond April 8, and in a high-scoring affair, the Bears took home a 21-16 victory.
Tony Ary started on the hill for the Cats but fell behind and struggled in what turned out to be a first long inning.
The Bears hit the ball well and jumped out to an early lead.
Colton Goetting pitched the full seven innings for Mammoth Spring. Coach Matt Pitts pulled Jacob Eckman from behind the plate to take over on the mound. Both teams started putting the ball in play and the score went back and forth during the middle innings.
Luke Martin had two triples and a double for the Cats and Adam Crase made contact and came up with base hits almost every at bat.
The game was tie game at 16-all going into the seventh inning, but the Bears rallied and pulled away with a 21-16 victory.
