A strong west-to-east wind called the Ava Bears swept across the baseball diamond at Thayer High School on the afternoon of April 20.

The Bobcats' starting pitcher, Jacob Eckman, held the Bears to only three runs in their first at bat, but Thayer was not able to capitalize with base runners in the bottom of the first.

Eckman gave it his all, but was unable to find the strike zone with much success.

Tony Ary took over on the mound with the bases loaded and was not able to contain the slug fest.

With the flood gates opened, the Bears took advantage of several Bobcat errors and moved more runners home.

Ryan Tate filled in on the mound to round out the short game, as the Ava Bears rolled to an 18-1 bruising of the Cats in four innings of play.
