Esther Louise McGuire, 98, of Poughkeepsie, Ark., died April 21, 2009, at her home. She was born Aug. 5, 1910, at Medicine Lodge, Kan., the daughter of the late George W. and Eula (Fife) Colborn.
She was married to Burt Mcguire Aug. 29, 1933, at Medicine Lodge, Kan. She was a wife, mother, homemaker and helped her husband in the ministry by playing guitar and piano. They pioneered the Highland Assembly of God. She worked with the food bank at Hardy. She was a charter member of Highland Assembly of God, a faithful member at Pleasant Ridge Community Church and attended services at Ash Flat Church of God.
Survivors include: two sons, Everett McGuire of Williford and Walter McGuire of Hardy; four daughters, Marjorie Hughes of Hardy, Bertha Hill of Woodward, Okla., Naomi Wyatt of Harrison and Hazel Anston of Poughkeepsie; a brother, John Colborn of Medicine Lodge, Kan.; a sister, Thelma Jester of Attic, Kan.; 31 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; 52 great-great-grand-children; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Burt McGuire; a son, Victor McGuire; a daughter, Margaret Lingenfelter; two sisters, Pansy Lichlyter and Mary LeCat and an infant great-great-grand-daughter.
Funeral services were held April 27 at the Tri-County Funeral Home Chapel in Highland with Bro. Eugene Anston, Bro. Jim Pagan, Bro. Bill Hattenhauer and Bro. Gene Garner officiating. Burial followed in the Highland Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.
Pallbearers were Cutis Allen, Otis Allen, Eugene Lingenfelter, Gary Gilliland, Bobby Gilliland, Marty McGuire, William McGuire and Anthony Anston.
Honorary pallbearers were Michael Hill, Buddy Austin and Marcus Wyatt.
