Looks like the Viola Longhorns still have the Norfork Panthers' number.

Meeting for the third time on the season, this time in the championship game of the 1A-2 West District Tournament April 22 at Viola City Park, the Horns racked up their third straight win over the Panthers, 6-2, winning the district tournament title to go with Viola's regular season conference crown.

Aside from their three losses to Viola this year, the Panthers are unbeaten.

Jordan Cotter picked up the win on the hill for the Longhorns, striking out eight while giving up five hits.

Jesse Shrable scored Viola's first run of the afternoon in the first inning, but the third inning turned out to be the charm for Viola.

The Longhorns crossed the plate five times in the third, all on three hits.

Blaine Sanders and Shrable both scored on wild pitches to get viola going, then Dolan Johnston came home on an RBI single by Jacob Luther.

Tyler Ochoa later scored on the third wild pitch of the frame and Cotter plated Viola's last run, coming home on a hit from Dylan Holstine.

In the semi-final round April 21, Viola hammered Rural Special by the count of 14-0.

The Longhorns crossed the plate nine times in the first inning and added five runs in the third, en route to the shutout.

Johnston picked up the win for Viola on the mound.

The Longhorns opened play in the 1A Region 2 Tournament with an 18-7 rout of Black Rock April 25 at Viola City Park.

The victory sends the Longhorns back to the Class 1A State Tournament.
