Add another district tournament title to the Izard County Lady Cougars' resume.
After winning the regular season championship, the Lady Cougars notched the 1A-2 East District Tournament title with a 6-2 win over Hillcrest April 21.
And as usual, Sarah Taylor was dominant in the pitching circle for Izard County.
A day after she struck out 17 in the Lady Cougars' semi-final win over Cushman, Taylor fanned 11 Screamin' Lady Eagles in the championship game.
Emily Crider got things going for Izard County, scoring on a bases-loaded walk. Taylor later scored on a wild pitch to put the Lady Cougars on top 2-0.
In the fourth, Harmony Herron smacked a shot to center that drove in three runs to boost Izard County's lead to 5-0. Taylor wrapped up the Lady Cougars' scoring with a moon shot over the fence in left-center in the sixth inning.
Izard County opened play in the 1A Region 2 Tournament with an 11-1 rout of the Norfork Lady Panthers April 25 in Brockwell. With the win, Izard County earned a spot in the Class 1A State Tourney.
